This is a strange book. It is part a review of Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy, it is also a cut and paste affair of The Who's early career based on the MBBB tracks. It is an entertaining read, but what helps it stand out is John Perry is also a musician (he played guitars for the Only Ones - who did a couple of decent late 70s albums but are best remembered for Another Girl Another Planet). He adds in sight into songs from an artists rather than a critics perspective. It is generally available in bargain bins or on ebay and worth a look.
